Ryan, I’m really enjoying your writing and always look forward to the next one. While I was reading “The Teaching Fields”, I felt that could be me in that berry field ... with the grape soda wrapped in foil. Thank you!
Thanks, Mom. I have no doubt the desire to escape, and the work, proved much harder in a house filled with as many as yours was. Childhood imagination combined with faulty memory cause me to distrust memoir as a genre. But I suppose the stories we tell ourselves are important in their own way. Happy the writing transported you back though.
I truly enjoy your stories. They open a new, interesting world. I helped in our garden and tree farm. It taught me alot, most importantly that hard work was (usually) rewarding.
Thanks, Joanne. It's helpful when writing them to know someone is out there who will enjoy the story. And yes, hard work is very rewarding. But spring is here, and things are growing, and the forest needs to be cleaned up from winter storms, so I may feel differently in a few weeks. ;)

Hi Jean! I'm so happy to see your comment. I hope the world is treating you well. Thanks for reading my work.
Excellent depiction of a. child's view of spending time in the berry fields. You brought me back to my own (mostly unpleasant) memories.

I was there with you, your writing put me right smack in the middle of the strawberry field. Thank you for that trip back in time.
You bet, Shelby! Thanks for reading.

I got blisters on my head from the sun because I’m a redhead and my foster parents didn’t supply me with a hat
My hair went from blond to nearly white by season's end. I had a berry field crush on a redhead.
